We have always been fascinated by BIG things!

"Stop!" is a familar cry when we pass something HUGE. If we should happen to have the camera along, it's a guaranteed photo-op. Here are some of our favorites...

Tom Sturgis PretzelsThe Pagoda - Reading, PA

The top left photo was taken back in the late 80's or early 90's in front of the factory near Reading, PA. We were on our way to the huge "pagoda" at right overlooking the city on Mount Penn. The view is fantastic!

The Gateway Arch - St. Louis

The Gateway Arch

The very BIGGEST of our favorites, the Gateway Arch is bigger than the Statue of Liberty and the Washington Monument! We were amazed to find out that we could go inside the arch, ride to the top see the whole city.

Hugo's on Route 17 in Virginia
Hugo's
Gotta stop! This one is Dave on Hugo's giant roller skate, found in Bealeton, VA on a road trip to somewhere else. We're not sure if the rink is still open, but what a great skate!

The Shoe House

This 25-foot tall big shoe is closer to home in Hellam, PA. It's been around since 1948, built by Mahlon Haines who had a The Haines Shoe House - Hellam, PAshoe company, Haines Shoes. It was built to promote the company and was offered to honeymoon couples to stay in! When we visited there was an ice cream shop in the "sole" and you could tour the "upper" (which we did, of course!).

The Grand Guitar

It's the world's only guitar-shaped music museum. Bummer! It wasn't open when we stopped! Had to get a picture, thoughGrand Guitar Museum and WOPI Radio. Check out the building on the right to get the perspective of one ENORMOUS guitar! It's in Bristol, Tennessee and now the home of WOPI radio.
